A key decision on Pakistan’s participation in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is expected today (Monday), with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif set to make the final call, sources said.

According to the sources, multiple options are under consideration regarding Pakistan’s involvement in the mega event.

These options include the possibility of boycotting only the match against India rather than withdrawing from the entire tournament.

The sources said another proposal under discussion is that Pakistani players could take the field wearing black armbands as a form of protest during the match.

After reviewing all options, the prime minister is expected to decide on the matter today, with a formal announcement to follow.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also decided to consult Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar regarding whether the national team should take part in the tournament.

Earlier, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the consultation process was ongoing and that the public would be informed once a decision is made.
