A devastating fire at a nursing home on Indonesia’s Sulawesi island late Sunday claimed the lives of 16 people and left three others injured, local authorities reported.

Jimmy Rotinsulu, head of the local fire and rescue agency, told AFP on Monday that the three injured suffered burn wounds.

The blaze was reported to firefighters at 8:31pm in Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi province.

Fire crews managed to bring the fire under control approximately an hour later.
