Saudi Arabia suspends Umrah company over accommodation failure
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced on Sunday the suspension of an Umrah company and its overseas agent for failing to provide accommodation services as outlined in approved contractual programs.
The ministry, in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency, said the company’s negligence violated regulations governing services for Umrah pilgrims and visitors to the Two Holy Mosques.
Several pilgrims reportedly arrived in the Kingdom without secured accommodation, despite the services being included in contractual agreements.
Regulatory action was immediately taken against the company and its overseas agent under the established legal framework.
The ministry emphasised that the measures aim to safeguard the rights of affected pilgrims, prevent future violations, and ensure continuous improvement in service quality.
Last June, the ministry had suspended seven Umrah companies for failing to provide adequate transport services to pilgrims.
According to an earlier report by SPA quoting the Hajj Ministry and the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, more than 1.7 million Muslims arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah during Jumada Al Akhira, the sixth month of the Islamic calendar, which ended on December 20, 2025, for Hijri year 1447.
