The mystery surrounding the discovery of four bodies inside a house in Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area remains unresolved, police said on Monday, adding that post-mortem examinations have been completed and samples sent for chemical analysis.

According to Police Surgeon Dr Samia Tariq, no visible signs of torture were found on the bodies.

She said the exact cause of death would be determined after the post-mortem and chemical examination reports are finalised.

Police officials said a case has not yet been registered and will be filed after the post-mortem report is received.

The father of the household, identified as Najeebullah, and his son are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing.

Police said that Najeebullah had contracted two marriages. His first wife has been divorced and currently resides in Punjab, while his second wife is Uzbek. He had two children from each marriage.

According to investigators, one of the deceased children, a girl named Sonam, was from Najeebullah’s first marriage, while the two other deceased children belonged to his second wife, Fatima.

Najeebullah also has a son from his first marriage, who was with him at the time of the incident.

Police said that Najeebullah works at the vegetable market and had gone there with his son during the night.

When he returned home in the morning, no one responded to knocks at the door. He then sent his son inside the house, where the bodies were discovered.

Further investigations into the incident are underway, police said.
