Experts confirm viral image of Ghilaf-e-Kaaba is fake
A picture circulating on social media claiming to show the Ghilaf-e-Kaaba, ‘Kiswah,’ laid on the ground has been confirmed as not authentic by experts, sparking discussions among Muslims about verifying information before sharing it.
The Ghilaf-e-Kaaba holds deep religious significance, and Islam encourages followers to control emotions and verify information before dissemination.
The Holy Quran’s teachings caution against spreading news without research, and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade speaking without verification.
An Inside the Haramain team reviewed the viral image and consulted experts who have full knowledge of the Kiswah and its specifications.
After careful analysis, experts concluded that the picture does not depict the real Ghilaf-e-Kaaba
Experts noted that the cloth in the image differs in size, weight, and texture from the actual Kiswah.
While the real shroud’s panels require seven to eight people to move, the viral image shows a smaller cloth handled by three or four people.
The texture and thickness of the real Kiswah also differ from the lightweight cloth seen in the image.
Additional discrepancies were observed in the patterns, borders, and medallions.
The contrast and outlines in the viral image do not match those of the original Kiswah.
Experts said the placement of decorative elements in the image clearly indicates it is not authentic.
Inside the Haramain team emphasised that no claims about sacred objects should be made without verification.
The organisation said definitive conclusions about the image’s authenticity can only be drawn with clear evidence.
Experts concluded by praying for truth, patience, and caution, and urged people not to spread unverified information.
