“Save me, I don’t want to die”, last words of young man trapped in Gul Plaza
The rescue operation after the fire in Gul Plaza has entered its second day. Even now, the families of the missing people are waiting outside the building, hoping for the return of their loved ones.
A woman outside the affected building told Aaj News that her 22-year-old cousin worked in a furniture shop in Gul Plaza.
She was last contacted by her child on Saturday night. He was constantly calling for help and saying that the building was filled with smoke, save me, I don’t want to die.
She said that the part of the building where the cousin’s shop was located had collapsed in front of her. Now there is no hope of their survival.
The horrific fire that broke out in Gul Plaza Shopping Centre in Karachi on Saturday night has not yet been fully controlled.
According to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, the death toll in the tragedy has reached 15 and 65 are still missing, and constant efforts are being made to trace the missing persons.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, the Chief Minister said that the cause of the fire has not been determined yet.
On the other hand, the affected families gathered outside Gul Plaza are waiting for the return of their loved ones alive.
The victims say that if the rescue operation had been carried out in time, many lives could have been saved.
