Sindh’s Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has stated that if any negligence is found in the Gul Plaza fire, strict action will be taken against the responsible elements.

Speaking to the media in Karachi on Sunday, he pointed out that the Sindh government had immediately taken notice of the fire at Gul Plaza.

The senior provincial minister added that government agencies have been working to extinguish the fire since last night, and the extent of the damage would only be assessed after the fire is completely put out.

Talking to Aaj News, Sharjeel Memon said that government agencies acted swiftly after the incident, with over 40 snorkels participating in the operation.

He also claimed that more than 60% of the fire had already been extinguished.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has also taken notice of the fire and directed that strict action be taken against those responsible if negligence or carelessness is proven.

Expressing his sorrow over the incident, the chief minister also directed the best possible medical care for the injured.

Additionally, Murad Ali Shah instructed that fire safety audits of commercial buildings in Karachi be conducted immediately.

The chief minister directed the Karachi commissioner to conduct an immediate inquiry into the incident.

Meanwhile, the fire at Gul Plaza has been classified as a third-degree blaze.

Six people have been confirmed dead, and 20 others have been injured, while there are reports of many people being trapped inside the building.

The fire has yet to be fully controlled, and fire tenders from across the city have been called in. Both water and foam are being used to battle the blaze.

As a result of the fire, all shops on the ground floor have been completely gutted.

The fire, caused by a gas leak and an explosion in the building, quickly spread from the ground floor to the third floor.
