Sindh CM announces announces plan to rebuild Gul Plaza, rehabilitation of affected traders
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced plans to rebuild Gul Plaza and the rehabilitation of all affected traders and families of victims following the tragic fire.
In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, officials gave a detailed briefing on the fire which destroyed the 8,000-square-yard plaza and its 1,200 shops.
Rescue and fire-fighting operations were ongoing with the help of 16 fire tenders and 50-60 firefighters, the meeting was informed.
The chief minister said that the fire caused severe disruption, leaving many affected families and traders without livelihoods overnight.
He directed immediate steps for the rehabilitation of all victims and emphasised the urgent provision of shops to help traders resume business.
A fact-finding and compensation committee has been established to submit recommendations on compensation amounts and recovery plans.
The meeting includes Nasser Shah, Saeed Ghani, Murtaza Wahab, and the Karachi Commissioner as members.
The chief minister also expressed condolences to the family of the martyred firefighter and stated that immediate compensation would be provided.
