Karachi court grants three-day remand of child abuse suspect

A court in Karachi on Saturday granted the police a three-day remand of a suspect arrested for allegedly sexually abusing dozens of children.

The accused was presented by the Mahmoodabad Police before the Judicial Magistrate South.

According to the investigating officer of the case, the area people arrested the accused after a kidnapped child raised an alarm, and handed him over to the police.

There are suspicions that the accused may have killed several children after abusing them, the officer added.

The police requested a 14-day physical remand of the suspect, stating that the accused had confessed during the preliminary investigation to attempting to sexually abuse dozens of children.

The officer pointed out that further interrogation is required, and statements from the affected children need to be recorded.

Police confirmed that the accused, identified as Imran, is facing charges for abusing numerous children.

He had initially been arrested by Tipu Sultan Police for kidnapping a child.

The police also claimed that several victims have identified the suspect during the investigation.

Cases have been registered against him at multiple police stations, including Mahmoodabad, Tipu Sultan, Korangi Industrial Area, and others.
