Fuel prices may see modest cut from January 16
Consumers of petroleum products may receive some relief as fuel prices are expected to decline for the next two weeks, reducing transportation costs and easing pressure on households.
According to sources, prices of petrol, high-speed diesel, kerosene oil, and light diesel oil are likely to be reduced from January 16.
Petrol prices are expected to ease slightly, offering some relief to commuters who rely on motorcycles and cars, as the price may drop by Rs4.59 per litre — from Rs253.17 to Rs248.58.
High-speed diesel, a key fuel for buses, trucks, farms, tube wells, and power generation, is also likely to become cheaper.
A drop of Rs2.70 per litre could bring its price down from Rs257.08 to Rs254.38.
Kerosene oil, used for cooking in many low-income households, may also see a modest cut.
The price of kerosene oil is likely to fall by Rs1.82 per litre, from Rs170.88 to Rs169.06.
Light diesel oil is expected to fall by Rs2.08 per litre, reducing its price from Rs146.18 to Rs144.10.
If approved, these cuts would offer some breathing space for consumers, help bring down transport expenses, and ease cost pressures on farmers and small businesses.
