In a significant progress in the case of Fatima, a private university student who attempted suicide, the injured girl underwent surgery on her spinal vertebrae at the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences (PINS).

According to doctors, the surgery, which lasted two and a half hours, was performed under the supervision of PINS director Dr Asif Bashir.

Fatima is now reported to be out of danger. “Her condition has improved significantly, and she is stable,” Dr Bashir said.

Fatima has been transferred to the ICU for post-surgery monitoring.

Dr Bashir explained that the spinal surgery was essential to enable Fatima to walk again.

“Once her leg fractures heal, she will be able to move independently,” he added.

He also confirmed that no brain surgery is required at this stage.

Fatima had been admitted to the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences on Friday after spending eight days at the General Hospital, where she received treatment for fractures in her legs, lung injuries, and respiratory support.
