PCB stands with Bangladesh over T20 World Cup security concerns
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed its full support for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) over its reservations to play T20 World Cup matches in India over security concerns.
Sources said the PCB affirmed that it will stand with Bangladesh against any pressure or manipulation related to the T20 World Cup in India.
The PCB also maintained that it will coordinate with other cricket boards to take a united stance on the issue.
According to PCB sources, Bangladesh has every right to decide not to send its team to India on genuine security concerns.
The announcement comes amid claims by Indian media that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has rejected Bangladesh’s request to move its T20 World Cup matches to a neutral venue, warning that points could be deducted if the team refuses to play in India.
However, BCB President Aminul Islam dismissed these reports as false and unfounded, stating that the ICC has not issued any such decision, nor mentioned any point deduction.
Islam added that communication with the ICC is ongoing, reiterating that Bangladesh’s players are not safe in India which is why the board requested matches be held at a neutral venue.
He further stated that the BCB will soon provide the ICC with detailed security concerns to find a resolution.
The sources added that the PCB will monitor the situation closely and work with other international cricket boards to ensure that Bangladesh is not subjected to unfair pressure.
