Two new cases of mpox have been reported in Lahore over the past 24 hours, health officials said on Saturday.

Hospital authorities confirmed that both patients, a 40-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man, tested positive for mpox while undergoing treatment at Mayo Hospital.

According to the hospital administration, neither patient has a recent travel history. Both were immediately shifted to isolation wards, where they are receiving full medical care.

Health officials said the newly reported cases have raised the total number of confirmed mpox infections in Punjab to 17 this year.

Authorities have advised the public to observe precautionary measures and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms appear.

Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, is a viral disease that can spread through close contact. Health departments have reiterated the importance of early detection and isolation to prevent further transmission.
