The summer vacation in schools across Punjab has been extended until August 31, with both private and government schools set to reopen on September 1.

According to Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, the decision was made considering the ongoing weather conditions in the region.

The minister confirmed that the summer break was initially due to end soon, but the extension has been granted in light of the continuing rainfall and intense heat spells in the province.

With intermittent rainfall currently affecting Punjab, the weather conditions remain challenging. In the absence of rain, the heat and humidity have been significantly high, prompting the government to ensure that schools remain closed for the time being.

As a result, students across the province will have an extended break, and classes will resume as usual after the vacation ends on September 1.
