Security on high alert in Azad Kashmir amid regional tensions
Security has been put on high alert in Azad Kashmir amid concerns over proxy wars, possible sabotage and any unexpected situation involving India and Afghanistan.
Authorities have tightened security in the region following Iran’s retaliatory attacks on American and Israeli installations, rising tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and fears of possible aggression by India.
Police and the administration have increased checks at all entry and exit points of the capital, Muzaffarabad, as well as in other districts.
During operations, 23 Afghans found to be residing illegally in Azad Kashmir have been detained, and investigations have been launched.
Officials said law enforcement agencies are fully alert to respond to any unexpected situation.
The administration and police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious individuals and activities to the authorities.
