Suicide bombing at Bhakkar check post; two policemen martyred
A suicide bombing at the Dajal inter-provincial police check post in Bhakkar left two policemen martyred and another injured, authorities said on Tuesday.
The martyred officers were identified as Constables Faheem Abbas and Shehbaz Madani. The injured policeman was shifted to the hospital, where he is reported to be receiving treatment.
Inspector General of Punjab Police paid tribute to the fallen officers, calling their sacrifice “timeless” and a symbol of steadfast resistance against militant violence.
He said the Punjab Police would stand by the families of the martyrs and reiterated that every policeman remains a “lead wall” against extremist threats.
President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the attack and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also denounced the incident, saluted the sacrifices of the martyred constables, and directed authorities to ensure the best possible medical care for the wounded.
She expressed solidarity with the grieving families and prayed for the early recovery of those injured.
Security agencies have launched an investigation into the attack.
