Central leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail, Lahore, have requested on Friday that all protest activities be postponed during the holy month of Ramazan.

A joint letter, reportedly sent to the media by senior jailed PTI leaders including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Yasmin Rashid, Ejaz Chaudhry, Omer Sarfraz Cheema, and Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, emphasised the sanctity of Ramazan and called for a temporary halt to protests.

The letter condemned recent remarks by President Asif Ali Zardari about PTI founder Imran Khan, noting that Khan is serving his sentence under challenging conditions with dignity.

It demanded that the government refrain from politicising his health and ensure that all treatment decisions involve his sisters and personal doctors.

The leaders further urged the PTI to focus on parliamentary work and strengthen organisational structures.

Party officials at all levels have been instructed to revitalise the party’s grassroots network and prepare for upcoming local body elections nationwide.
