Pakistan qualify directly for T20 World Cup 2028
Pakistan have secured direct qualification for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028 following their progression to the Super Eight stage of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the International Cricket Council confirmed.
Under ICC qualification rules, the eight teams reaching the Super Eight phase of the 2026 tournament earn automatic qualification for the 2028 edition.
The 2028 T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand, with 20 teams set to participate. As co-hosts, Australia and New Zealand have already secured direct entry.
According to the ICC, Pakistan, India, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and West Indies have all qualified directly for the 2028 mega event.
In addition, the next three highest-ranked teams in the ICC T20I rankings as of March 9 — Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Ireland — will also earn automatic qualification.
The remaining eight slots in the 20-team tournament will be filled through regional qualifying events.
Pakistan confirmed their Super Eight place on Wednesday with a comprehensive 102-run victory over Namibia, completing the line-up of eight teams advancing from the group stage.
