An opposition alliance meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday rejected Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s press conference on the health of Imran Khan, calling it “contrary to facts” and accusing the government of concealing his deteriorating condition and alleged inhumane treatment in jail.

In a joint statement, the opposition said the insistence on the presence of personal physicians during medical examinations was not an individual demand but a unanimous decision taken after consultation among the family, the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan.

The alliance demanded unrestricted access for Imran Khan’s personal doctors, restoration of meetings with family members and the legal team, an end to solitary confinement, and assurance of transparent and open judicial proceedings.

The meeting also agreed to continue the ongoing sit-in and decided to intensify contacts to ensure access for personal physicians.

Opposition leaders said alliance members would attend the Supreme Court hearing scheduled for Wednesday, while another consultative meeting will be held again on Wednesday.

Aleema Khan demands improved medical facilities

Separately, the PTI founder’s sister Aleema Khan demanded improved medical facilities, describing the eye condition of former prime minister Imran Khan as “extremely concerning”.

Addressing a press conference at Bani Gala, Aleema Khan said the family was not allowed to meet him and that a message conveyed through Bushra Bibi indicated his eyesight had not improved.

She said he had demanded access to his personal doctors, Dr Faisal and Dr Asim, and asked to be shown his blood test reports.

Aleema Khan said doctors believed Shifa International Hospital was suitable for treatment, with the presence of personal physicians and a family member, but objections were raised over doctors’ names and meetings.

She claimed a message from the interior minister regarding treatment at Shifa International later led to confusion.

Barrister Gohar terms the situation illegal

PTI leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, speaking alongside Salman Akram Raja after returning from Adiala Jail, questioned why meetings were not allowed despite official assurances.

He termed the situation illegal and unconstitutional, saying the party wanted to personally verify the PTI founder’s health condition.

Salman Akram Raja said lawyers had a fundamental right to meet their clients, especially when multiple cases were pending in the Supreme Court and high courts.

He said transparency required the presence of a family member or personal doctor during medical examinations.

Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi dismissed what he called “baseless propaganda” about Imran Khan’s health, saying the PTI founder had received comprehensive eye treatment from senior government and private doctors.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Naqvi rejected claims of severe vision loss, saying a detailed medical examination lasting over an hour had been conducted, and its report was on record.

Naqvi said he had invited PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan to witness the medical examination at Adiala Jail, but claimed the PTI leader did not arrive despite officials waiting.

He added that PTI representatives and doctors were later briefed for 45 minutes and expressed satisfaction with the treatment, while the PTI founder’s personal physicians allegedly agreed with the course of treatment.

The opposition alliance, however, rejected these assertions and warned that protests would intensify if unrestricted medical access and meetings were not ensured.
