Fourteen former international cricket captains have written an open letter to the Government of Pakistan, expressing concern over reports about the health of PTI founder Imran Khan and calling for his immediate medical examination.

The signatories include legendary cricketers such as Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Ian Chappell, Steve Waugh, Nasser Hussain, Clive Lloyd, Michael Atherton, and Allan Border.

In the letter, the former captains expressed regret over reports suggesting damage to Imran Khan’s eyesight and urged authorities to arrange examinations by qualified specialists.

They wrote that Imran Khan was a globally recognised figure and that, despite sporting and political rivalries, humanitarian values and mutual respect should take precedence.

The signatories demanded that Imran Khan be provided with healthcare facilities in line with international standards. No Pakistani cricketer was among the signatories.

Reports of deteriorating health had emerged during Imran Khan’s incarceration at Adiala Jail. Following these concerns, the Supreme Court of Pakistan appointed Salman Safdar as amicus curiae to inspect his health conditions and available facilities.

In his report, Salman Safdar claimed that Imran Khan had lost 85 per cent of vision in one eye.

Later, a team of specialist doctors conducted a detailed examination and informed the court that around 70 per cent of his eyesight had recovered.

Meanwhile, the opposition alliance has announced the continuation of protests until Imran Khan is transferred to Shifa International Hospital for treatment under his personal doctor’s supervision.

PTI leaders have said demonstrations will continue until full medical facilities are ensured and transparent assessments are carried out.
