Supreme Judicial Council reviews 59 complaints in Islamabad meeting
The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, held a meeting on Wednesday at the Supreme Court building in Islamabad to review complaints against members of the judiciary.
According to an official statement, the meeting was attended by Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Jamal Mandokhail, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, and Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar.
The council was reconstituted for eight complaints, with Justice Ateeq Shah replacing Justice Sarfaraz Dogar in relevant proceedings.
The SJC reviewed 59 complaints under Article 209 of the Constitution. It decided to close and file 50 complaints.
Six complaints were deferred, while three were forwarded for further legal action.
The approval of draft rules was postponed until the next meeting.
