T20 World Cup: India, Sri Lanka welcome Pakistan decision

The decision by the Pakistan government to allow Green Shirts to play against India in the ICC T20 World Cup has been welcomed not only by fans but also by cricket authorities across the region.

Rajeev Shukla, Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), described the upcoming high-voltage encounter as “great news for all of us.”

He praised the ICC for handling the matter efficiently and said that “this is a win for all stakeholders.”

Shukla also expressed optimism, saying, “We hope the T20 World Cup will be a successful event.”

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka, co-host of the tournament, expressed its delight over the confirmation of the match.

President Ranil Anura Kumara Dissanayake posted on social media, thanking the Pakistani prime minister, while Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath welcomed the decision, acknowledging the efforts of the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Herath said the positive consideration of Sri Lanka’s request to host the Pakistan-India fixture highlights “sportsmanship, friendship, and the strengthening of our bilateral relations.”

He also commended the cooperation of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the country’s sports authorities.

The announcement has reinforced goodwill among the participating nations and set the stage for one of the most eagerly anticipated matches in the tournament.
