Italy make T20 World Cup debut against Scotland today
Three key matches are scheduled on Monday at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, featuring six teams making their tournament appearances.
Italy will make their T20 World Cup debut in an all-European showdown against Scotland in Kolkata, while Zimbabwe return to the competition in a closely watched clash with Oman.
Later, attention shifts to Ahmedabad, where 2024 runners-up South Africa begin their campaign against Canada.
In the Kolkata fixture, Italy captain Wayne Madsen won the toss and opted to field first against Scotland.
Italy qualified by virtue of finishing second in the T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier.
Madsen said that the team’s camps in Dubai and then in Chennai have made them ready for the big stage.
The Mosca brothers — Anthony and Justin — will open the batting for them with the Manenti brothers — Harry and Ben —lining up at Nos. 5 and 6.
