One dead, six injured in Lahore Basant accidents
One person died, and six others were injured in separate accidents on Friday during the ongoing Basant festival in Lahore.
Twenty-five-year-old Ali Rashid Kati lost his life after climbing an electric pole near the Sikh Canal to fly a kite and suffered electrocution.
Rescue officials have handed over his body to his family.
Among the injured, three were children: a child in Gulshan Ravi was hurt after a kite string got caught around his neck, while another fell from a roof in the Ravi Road area.
Twelve-year-old Abdul Wahid sustained injuries while flying a kite in Lower Mall, and 14-year-old Salman was injured in Gulshan Ravi.
Other incidents include a 45-year-old man, Shabbir, who was injured after a kite string snapped in Gulshan Ravi, and a youth hurt in Defence Phase 5 when a string broke, with rescue efforts underway.
Authorities have reminded citizens to follow safety guidelines during Basant to prevent accidents.
