Senior-level reshuffles within the Punjab Police are expected, with the possible transfer of the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore under consideration following recent changes in the province’s police leadership.

Sources say that after the appointment of a new Inspector General (IG) Punjab, discussions have begun regarding a change in the CCPO Lahore, as both officers belong to the 24th Common.

The Punjab government is reviewing several names for the post, including IG Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi, while a decision is expected soon.

Meanwhile, a notification for the transfer of the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (DG FIA) has been issued.

Dr Usman Anwar has been appointed DG FIA, and Riffat Mukhtar has been directed to report to the Establishment Division.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in a message, praised Dr Usman Anwar for introducing reforms and improving public service delivery during his tenure, adding that a new phase has begun with his assumption of national responsibilities.

Sources also said that Bilal Siddique’s father was among the contenders for the post of IG Punjab, but Dr Usman Anwar was selected.

It may be noted that Dr Usman Anwar, who was appointed IG Punjab in January 2023, has been replaced, with Rao Abdul Karim appointed as the new IG Punjab, while Usman Anwar is expected to take charge as DG FIA.
