K-Electric (KE) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Mega Motor Company (MMC), BYD’s partner in Pakistan, to provide a dedicated 5MW power connection, scalable to 7.5MW, for the automaker’s new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturing operations.

Under the agreement, MMC will develop and fund the dedicated power supply, with facilitation by KE, to ensure reliable and flexible energy as production scales. The facility is scheduled to begin operations in 2026.

The partnership is aimed at supporting BYD-MMC’s automated and technology-driven manufacturing processes, in line with global operational standards.

KE Chief Executive Moonis Alvi said the agreement reflects growing confidence among global manufacturers in the utility’s ability to support high-demand industrial operations. He said KE remains committed to enabling scalable power solutions while supporting industrial growth and Pakistan’s clean energy transition.

Aly Khan, chief executive of BYD Pakistan-Mega Motor Company, said the company aims to lead Pakistan’s shift toward sustainable mobility by introducing global NEV technology, localising manufacturing and building long-term industrial ecosystems.

He said the partnership with K-Electric is critical to operating at global standards and scaling production, adding that such collaborations encourage greenfield investment and support the country’s long-term economic goals.

The agreement is the latest in a series of KE partnerships with the private sector to support Pakistan’s industrialisation, particularly for technology-driven industries that require dependable and scalable power supply.
