Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Wednesday assured the textile sector of continued government engagement to address key challenges facing the industry.

The assurance was given during a meeting in Islamabad with a delegation of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA), which was also attended by Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik.

Aurangzeb said the textile industry remains a backbone of Pakistan’s economy, citing its major contribution to exports, employment and industrial output.

Both ministers stressed the need for sustained and constructive dialogue between the government and industry, particularly amid shifting domestic and global economic conditions.

The APTMA delegation briefed the ministers on the current state of the sector and outlined the pressures faced by exporters in an increasingly competitive international market.
