Pakistan outclass New Zealand in U-19 World Cup showdown
Pakistan’s stunning victory in the Super Six stage of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, easily defeating New Zealand by 8 wickets on Tuesday.
In the Super Six stage match of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup played in Harare, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first against New Zealand, which proved to be the right decision.
Thanks to the brilliant bowling, the Pakistani bowlers did not let the Kiwi batsmen play and sent the entire team back to the pavilion for 110 runs in 28.3 overs.
Hugo Bogue stood out from New Zealand by scoring 39 runs, while Mason Clarke scored 17, Tom Johns scored 15, and Calum Samson played an innings of 10 runs. In addition, 3 players could not enter double figures, and 2 players returned to the pavilion without opening an account.
For Pakistan, Abdul Subhan took 4, Ali Raza 3, while Mohammad Sayam and Momin Qamar took one wicket each.
Pakistan achieved New Zealand’s target of 111 runs in 17.1 overs with the loss of 2 wickets, thanks to Sameer Mehnas’s lightning-fast, unbeaten innings of 76 runs off 59 balls.
Captain Farhan Yousuf remained not out on 11 runs, while Usman Khan was out on 15 and Hamza Zahoor on 8 runs.
Thus, the Pakistan Under-19 team advanced to the semi-finals by winning the crucial match of the Super Six stage against New Zealand by 8 wickets.
It should be noted that the Green Shirts not only had to win today’s match to reach the semi-finals, but also had to win the match against India on February 1.
