Peace committee member among 5 killed in D I Khan suicide blast

At least five people were killed and seven others injured in a suicide blast during a wedding ceremony at the residence of Peace Committee head Noor Alam Mehsud in Dera Ismail Khan on Friday.

Among the deceased are Peace Committee leader Abdul Waheed and Advocate Abdul Majeed.

The blast occurred in the Qureshi Mor area, near the wedding venue, according to police sources.

Initial reports indicate that the casualties include both men and women attending the event.

Police said the blast could have been a suicide attack, though investigations were still underway.

According to local sources, an emergency has been declared at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan.

Rescue officials said the bodies of five victims and the injured have been shifted to the hospital.

Initial reports suggest the blast was carried out due to personal enmity linked to extortion.
