Nations express condolences over Gul Plaza fire
Iran, France and the United Kingdom have expressed deep sorrow over the deadly fire at Karachi’s Gul Plaza.
Iranian Ambassador Dr Reza Amiri-Moghadam expressed his heartfelt condolences over the tragic incident at Gul Plaza.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the Iranian envoy said that at least 14 Pakistani men and women had lost their lives in the tragedy.
“My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones in this heartbreaking incident,” he said, adding that he was praying for the safe and speedy recovery of all those injured.
The ambassador also said he was praying for the strength, safety and success of the rescue teams and police personnel who were bravely performing their duties during this difficult time.
France has also expressed sorrow over the fire at Gul Plaza. In a statement, the French Embassy said France deeply mourns the loss of several precious lives in the tragic fire incident in Karachi.
“We extend our sincere condolences to the bereaved families and stand with the people of Pakistan in this time of grief,” the statement said.
The United Kingdom has likewise reacted to the Gul Plaza blaze.
British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott wrote on social media platform X that she was heartbroken by the tragic fire at Karachi’s Gul Plaza.
“My thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones, the injured, and all those anxiously awaiting news as rescue efforts continue,” she said.
Russia expresses regret over the fire incident in Karachi. The Russian Embassy said in a statement that it is deeply saddened by the tragic fire incident in Gul Plaza and expresses heartfelt condolences and deep sorrow to the people of Pakistan.
“We share the grief of the bereaved families and express our best wishes for the speedy recovery of all the injured”.
The Turkish Embassy also expressed condolences, the statement said, “We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased - we pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. The Turkish Embassy expresses its complete solidarity with the friendly and brotherly people of Pakistan in this difficult time”.
