Complaint filed against two judges, including LHC chief justice before SJC
A complaint has been filed before the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) against the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Justice Aalia Neelum, and one other judge, Justice Abhar Gul Khan, raising serious questions over their academic qualifications, eligibility and role in administrative matters.
According to the complaint, both judges are allegedly unfit to continue holding judicial office.
The petition calls on the SJC to conduct a detailed review of their educational credentials and overall competence.
The complainants have specifically questioned the academic qualifications of Justice Khan, alleging that his degree is not valid.
They have urged the council to obtain his complete academic record and verify his credentials, particularly before his confirmation as a permanent judge.
The complaint also alleges that female district judges in Lahore are being deliberately targeted and transferred to remote postings, adversely affecting their personal and family lives.
In this context, Chief Justice Neelum has been accused of interfering in the administrative affairs of the district judiciary, with the petition seeking a formal examination of her role.
The complaint has reportedly been filed by affected female judges and parents of other judicial officers.
However, the complainants have requested that their identities remain confidential due to security concerns.
The petition further urges the SJC to verify Justice Khan’s academic credentials before his confirmation as a permanent judge.
It adds that if the allegations are substantiated, both Justice Neelum and Justice Khan should be removed from office to uphold public confidence in the judicial system.
