Woman abducts 3-month-old from Karachi’s Civil Hospital
A three-month-old baby was reportedly abducted from Civil Hospital in Karachi, with CCTV footage showing a woman taking the child from the hospital premises, officials said on Monday.
The infant’s mother told police that on December 24, she was taking her sick baby to a nearby hospital. While stopping at Miran Naka to feed the child, a passerby woman assured her that she would help provide full treatment for the baby.
On December 25, the mother said, the woman accompanied her and the baby to Civil Hospital, where the infant received an IV drip and other medical care. However, when the baby was due for discharge, the woman allegedly snatched the infant and fled the hospital.
Police have registered a case at Eidgah Police Station. CCTV footage from the hospital shows the woman leaving the paediatric ward with the baby wrapped in cloth, accompanied by a man. Both their faces are clearly visible in the video.
Authorities said investigations are ongoing and efforts have been intensified to trace the suspects.
