Sindh CM reviews $1.3bn ADB-funded projects, urges faster execution
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday reviewed Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded development projects in the province with a total valuation of $1.319 billion, stressing the need for faster implementation and timely fund disbursement.
Chairing a high-level meeting, the chief minister was briefed that five ADB-backed projects are currently underway in Sindh, with timelines extending to December 2025.
CM Shah expressed satisfaction over the scale of development cooperation and termed the ADB Sindh’s most important development partner.
He said timely completion of projects and accelerated release of funds must remain top priorities, warning that delays undermine public service delivery.
The meeting also reviewed major transport initiatives, including the Karachi BRT Red Line, which the chief minister described as critical to the city’s future. He directed authorities to immediately remove bottlenecks hindering its execution.
CM Shah said investment in education and skills development was a long-term commitment that would shape Sindh’s social and economic trajectory, while housing reconstruction remained a core public welfare obligation.
Welcoming international institutions’ confidence in Sindh, the chief minister pledged transparency, effective implementation and measurable outcomes.
He instructed relevant departments to maintain strict oversight of all projects.
