King Abdullah of Jordan arrives in Islamabad for two-day official visit

Warm welcome at PM House reflects strong Pakistan-Jordan ties; Guard of Honour, national anthems mark ceremony

King Abdullah of Jordan arrived in Islamabad on Saturday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

At the airport, President Asif Ali Zardari and PM Shehbaz welcomed the visiting king, alongside First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Federal Ministers Atta Tarar and Musadiq Malik, and other senior officials.

King Abdullah was then escorted to the Prime Minister House, where he was accorded a Guard of Honour by a contingent of Pakistan Armed Forces.

National anthems of both countries were played, highlighting the ceremonial grandeur.

During the reception, King Abdullah and PM Shehbaz exchanged pleasantries and introduced their respective delegations.

As part of the formalities, the Jordanian king also planted a sapling in the grounds of the Prime Minister House.

The visit underscores the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Jordan and is expected to further strengthen political, economic, and cultural relations between the two nations.
