PM Shehbaz, President Zardari vow to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday, hours after a deadly suicide attack outside the district and sessions court in Islamabad left 12 people dead and 36 injured.
During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the country’s overall political and security situation and strongly condemned the recent terrorist incidents.
They reaffirmed their resolve to continue operations against foreign-backed terrorists and their facilitators until terrorism is eliminated from Pakistan.
According to the state broadcaster PTV, the meeting also included discussions on key national issues.
Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and federal ministers Mohsin Naqvi, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Khalid Hussain Magsi, and Abdul Aleem Khan were also present.
The leaders’ statement comes amid renewed security concerns following the Islamabad suicide bombing, which authorities suspect was carried out by terrorists with cross-border links.
