The 27th Constitutional Amendment has been challenged in the Lahore High Court, with the petitioner terming it incompatible with the fundamental spirit of the Constitution.

Citizen Hassan Latif filed the petition through Advocate Maqset Saleem, naming the prime minister, speaker of the National Assembly, the Ministry of Law, and others as respondents.

The petitioner argued that the current government has yet another amendment to the Constitution, which has already been passed by the Senate.

He maintained that the amendment transfers all powers of the Supreme Court to a proposed Federal Constitutional Court and grants lifetime immunity to the Chief of Defence Staff.
