Traffic accidents claim 747 lives in Karachi this year: Report

Heavy vehicles cause the majority of deaths; thousands more injured

At least 747 people have died in traffic accidents in Karachi so far this year, according to rescue sources.

Of these fatalities, 224 were caused by collisions involving heavy vehicles over the past 312 days. The deceased include 581 men, 73 women, 71 boys, and 22 girls.

In addition, 10,747 people have been injured in traffic accidents. This includes 8,401 men, 1,684 women, 508 boys, and 154 girls.

Among the dead, 40 were crushed by dumpers, 85 by trailers, 50 by water tankers, 19 by mini-buses, and 30 by buses.

Authorities have repeatedly warned of reckless driving and called for stricter enforcement to reduce the city’s high accident toll.
