PM Shehbaz launches Rs38bn Ramazan package
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched a Rs38 billion Ramazan Relief Package 2026 on Saturday, under which 12.1 million households across the country will receive financial assistance.
Under the programme, Rs13,000 per household will be provided via digital wallets during the month of Ramazan.
Speaking at the ceremony, PM Shehbaz said that the government faced several challenges while preparing the programme, including banks’ willingness, lack of digital infrastructure in Pakistan and SBP challenges.
“This year, Rs38 billion has been allocated for this purpose,” said PM Shehbaz.
He said that the amount will not only be distributed among deserving beneficiaries across all four provinces, but also in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, through digital wallets and bank accounts.
“Similarly, the stipend allocation has been increased to Rs10 billion,” he added.
The prime minister noted that at the federal level, this is the greatest effort during the month of Ramazan in terms of volume and challenge.
“I will continue to conduct periodic reviews to ensure that these Rs38 billion are properly distributed.
“I would also like to thank our international partners for their valuable contributions, interest, and concern. Together, we will achieve this landmark this month,” the PM said.
