27th Amendment: PMLN submits resolution in Punjab Assembly, backs constitutional court
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Hina Parvez Butt has submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly in support of the 27th Constitutional Amendment, terming it a step toward institutional stability and transparency.
According to the text, the House fully supports the amendment, describing it as a guarantor of institutional stability and transparency in the judicial structure of Pakistan.
“This House also acknowledges that the amendment upholds provincial autonomy and federal balance, thereby reinforcing the foundation of a united federation. The House considers the devolution of power to the grassroots level and the empowerment of citizens as vital for an effective democracy,” it said.
The resolution also emphasised the need to grant constitutional protection to the local government system to prevent any disruption to democratic governance. It said that the House welcomes the establishment of a constitutional court, stating that the move would further strengthen judicial independence and impartiality.
It added that the 27th Amendment would reinforce provincial autonomy and federal balance while making the Election Commission more autonomous and effective.
