PM Shehbaz Sharif embarks on official visit to Malaysia

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed today (Sunday) on a three-day official visit to Malaysia at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

In a statement on social media platform X, Prime Minister Sharif confirmed his visit, noting that the trip comes in response to a formal invitation from his Malaysian counterpart.

“Greatly looking forward to a comprehensive exchange of views on our common desire to enhance trade & economic engagement as well as bilateral cooperation in various fields. Important global and regional matters will also be discussed. Pakistan Malaysia ties will continue to flourish. INSHALLAH,” the prime minister said in a post on his X handle.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz will hold bilateral talks with his Malaysian counterparts on issues ranging from regional and global developments as well as ways to enhance cooperation in key sectors.

The two sides will discuss steps to boost trade ties, especially collaboration in information technology, telecommunications, the halal food industry, investment, education, energy, infrastructure, the digital economy, and people-to-people exchanges.

Several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs), both in existing areas of partnership and in new sectors of mutual interest, are also likely to be signed during the visit.

Prime Minister Sharif will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers, and senior government officials.
