The death toll from the suicide bombing near the Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters in the eastern area of Quetta has risen to 12, after two more injured victims succumbed to their injuries during treatment, hospital sources confirmed on Wednesday.

According to the sources, 24 injured patients admitted to the Trauma Centre have been discharged after receiving medical treatment, while eight others remained under care, including two in critical condition, one of whom is a woman.

Blast near FC Headquarters

The suicide attack occurred on Tuesday near the FC Headquarters in the sensitive Model Town area, initially killing 10 people and injuring 33 others.

The blast was so powerful that it was heard across eastern Quetta and shattered the windows of nearby homes and buildings.

Attack by ‘Fitna Al Hindustan’

Security sources revealed that the attack was carried out by the militant group Fitna Al Hindustan.

The suicide bomber, who was disguised in FC uniform, was accompanied by five other terrorists.

In the retaliatory action by security personnel, all six militants, including the bomber, were killed, while two FC personnel sustained injuries.

Case filed

A case has been registered at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Investigative teams are searching for facilitators behind the attack.

Preliminary findings indicate that 25 to 30 kilograms of explosives were used in the bombing.

Authorities also recovered 15 hand grenades and heavy weapons from the slain militants.
