As Breast Cancer Awareness Month begins, First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari has issued a powerful message urging women to prioritise their health and calling for greater public awareness about the disease.

She highlighted that one in every nine women in Pakistan is at risk of developing breast cancer, making it one of the most pressing health challenges facing the country’s female population.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an international health campaign which is held every October to promote screening and reduce the risk of the disease, which affects 2.3 million women worldwide.

Emphasising the importance of early diagnosis, Aseefa Bhutto noted that early detection can increase the chances of recovery by up to 90 per cent.

She urged women to undergo regular clinical check-ups and mammography screenings to detect any signs of cancer at an early stage.

“Adopting a healthy lifestyle can reduce the risks significantly,” she said, underlining the need for families and society at large to support women in seeking timely treatment.

“Saving the life of a mother, sister, or daughter is essentially saving future generations,” she added.

Aseefa Bhutto Zardari also paid tribute to the services of doctors, nurses, volunteers, and organisations working in the fight against breast cancer, calling for collective efforts to combat the disease.

She stressed that breast cancer is a serious health issue that should not be ignored and urged women across Pakistan to make their health a top priority.
