Bella Hadid walks for Saint Laurent following Lyme disease battle
Bella Hadid made a powerful return to the runway at Paris Fashion Week, just days after completing her latest round of treatment for lyme disease.
The 28-year-old model and founder of beauty brand Orbella walked in Saint Laurent’s Summer 2026 show. She wore a translucent, backward trench paired with oversized sunglasses and bold statement earrings.
The event took place in a garden setting with the Eiffel Tower as dramatic backdrop. Vogue captured the moment and shared footage of her walk on Instagram.
The show notes reflected Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello’s vision, stating “Where words divide, the Saint Laurent creates space to breathe and invent new analogies”. The collection presented the Saint Laurent woman as “both heroine and classic, singular and multifaceted”.
Hadid’s appearance marks a significant moment in her recovery journey, following years of battling Lyme disease a condition she was first diagnosed with at age 16. The disease is caused by bacteria transmitted through deer tick bites.
Lyme disease can lead to a range of symptoms including neurological issues, joint pain, fatigue and digestive complications. Bella has spoken openly about her experiences with brain fog, insomnia, light sensitivity and chronic pain, which at times forced her to step back from both modeling and her passion for horseback riding.
On September 17, Hadid shared a vulnerable update on social media, posting a photo from her hospital bed and revealing her most recent health struggles. Her mother, Yolanda Hadid who also suffers from Lyme disease has spoken about how emotionally difficult it was to watch Bella go through the illness.
Although, Bella has taken extended breaks from modelling to focus on her health, she has made select appearances over the past year, including the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in November 2024 and another Saint Laurent show in March 2025.
In recent weeks, fans spotted her during stylish street outings and she shared updates on social media about returning to the gym.
Now, her striking walk at Paris Fashion Week signals not just a professional comeback, but a personal triumph in her ongoing battle with chronic illness.
