Pakistan, Uzbekistan vow deeper defence and security cooperation

CJCSC Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza meets Uzbek leadership in Tashkent; both sides reaffirm commitment to regional peace and prosperity

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza held a series of high-level meetings with Uzbekistan’s leadership in Tashkent, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

During his official visit, Gen Mirza met President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Defence Minister Major General Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov, and Secretary of the National Security Council Lieutenant General Victor Makhmudov.

According to ISPR, the meetings focused on global and regional geopolitical and security dynamics.

Both sides agreed to expand cooperation in defence and security, as well as in road and rail connectivity.

General Mirza underscored Pakistan’s resolve to strengthen fraternal ties with Uzbekistan and highlighted the two nations’ shared commitment to regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

Uzbek leaders lauded the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and paid tribute to their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
