Nationwide internet outage resolved as PTCL restores services post-rain
Internet services have been fully restored across Pakistan following disruptions caused by heavy rain, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL).
A PTCL spokesperson confirmed that operations are back to normal after connectivity issues affected users since Tuesday evening.
IT and Telecom Minister Shaza Fatima acknowledged the issue and stated that professional officials are investigating the root cause.
“We will inform the public as soon as the reasons are identified and solutions are provided,” she assured.
Major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar, experienced significant disruptions, impacting both online and call services and creating challenges for individuals and businesses reliant on digital platforms.
Reports from various regions indicated slow or nonexistent browsing speeds, connection disruptions, and outages in online services.
Many online workers and business personnel expressed frustration over the unavailability of essential applications and platforms.
The internet outage during severe weather conditions has raised concerns about Pakistan’s IT infrastructure, particularly as many individuals rely on the internet for remote work, education, communication with relatives abroad, and e-commerce.
