Pakistan: Torrential rains increase death toll from recent floods and landslides

In Gadoon Serkoei Banda, the roof of a house collapsed, resulting in the deaths of four people and injuring seven others. According to the Deputy Commissioner, there are reports of fifteen individuals missing.
In Rawalakot, a female lecturer from Poonch University drowned when her car was swept away in a stream. In Muzaffarabad, five people died when a jeep fell into a ravine. Heavy rainfall has also wreaked havoc in Khushab, Jhelum, and other areas, prompting the closure of educational institutions in Murree for two days.
In the village of Dalori, twelve houses were submerged, and in Tehsil Razar, Lahore, and Topi, water entered homes.
Many people were trapped in the floods near Mor Gadoon. Residents climbed onto rooftops to save themselves, with reports indicating that fifteen individuals have died.
In Gadoon Amazai’s village of Serkoei Payan, the roof of a house collapsed, killing four people and injuring seven. The heavy rains have caused many areas in Rawalakot to flood, and a car near Poonch University’s Trar campus was swept away, resulting in the death of lecturer Gul Lala.
According to police, the lecturer’s vehicle stalled while crossing the stream and was carried away by rising water levels.
In the Neelum Valley of Muzaffarabad, a jeep carrying tourists fell into a ravine, resulting in the deaths of five tourists, including a couple from Karachi, while a child was injured.
Rescue officials reported that the jeep slipped due to slippery conditions.
In Mardan, rainwater entered homes in Aram Colony, and several schools in Abbottabad were submerged, trapping hundreds of students.
In Punjab, the risk of landslides has increased due to the rain, and educational institutions in Murree have been closed for two days, with 88 millimeters of rain recorded since morning.
In the village of Chakkah Baigwal, a sixteen-year-old boy drowned in a rainwater stream. In Khushab’s Tehsil Nowshera, flooding caused the walls and roofs of the Government High School in Sudhi Jwali to collapse. Roads connecting Khora and Khatwai have been washed away, isolating communities.
In Dera Ali Wala, multiple vehicles have been swept away by the floods, and a shop roof collapsed in Qaidabad.
Heavy rains have also caused destruction in Jhelum’s Tehsil Sohawa and Pind Dadan Khan, with water entering various areas. Near the Pasrur Nala in Sialkot, dozens of villages have been submerged.
In Kasur, near the Sutlej River at Ganda Singh, numerous villages and hundreds of acres of crops have been devastated.
The water level in Rawal Dam has risen to 1,751 feet, prompting the opening of spillways in anticipation of further rainfall.
