Abbottabad triple child murder: parents’ condition stabilising, mental health a concern
The physical condition of Kashif and his wife Shiza — hospitalised after the killing of their three young children in Abbottabad’s Kaghan Colony — is improving, but both remain mentally unstable, raising concerns about their psychological state, doctors at Ayub Medical Complex said on Monday.
The couple has been under treatment since police found their three children dead inside their home earlier this week.
According to doctors, while the pair is now physically out of danger, their mental condition requires close monitoring.
Speaking to Aaj News at the hospital, the children’s maternal aunt recounted the incident, saying the parents, when regaining partial consciousness, repeatedly asked about their children.
“They were semi-conscious and kept asking about the kids,” she said.
Police said Kashif allegedly poisoned his three children — one-year-old Shehram, three-year-old Aizal and six-year-old Ghaziyan — before administering poison to his wife and attempting suicide.
The children were laid to rest in their ancestral village on Friday amid scenes of grief.
Investigators said preliminary findings point to severe financial distress.
According to police, Kashif had borrowed Rs7 million on interest from a person identified as Qari Adil.
A day before the incident, Kashif reportedly offered Rs5 million in partial repayment, which was refused.
Police said the lender allegedly demanded immediate payment of Rs11 million, including interest, and issued threats in case of non-payment.
A case has been registered against Kashif on the police’s complaint. However, police have yet to trace the alleged lender.
Police said they are examining the case from multiple angles, including financial pressure, family circumstances and possible third-party involvement.
Digital evidence, medical reports and witness statements are being analysed to establish the sequence of events.
The incident has shocked local residents, with police describing it as one of the most disturbing cases reported in Abbottabad in recent years.
