Bhutto Jr. says new political party will be announced soon, claims PPP members are in contact
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Jr., son of Murtaza Bhutto, on Tuesday said that a new political party will soon be formed to provide genuine leadership to the masses.
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Jr., whose father Murtaza Bhutto formed and headed the Pakistan Peoples Party (Shaheed Bhutto Group), said that his sister, Fatima Bhutto, is also arriving in Pakistan.
He claimed that several members of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) are in contact with him to join the party; however, he refrained from disclosing any names, saying, “If I reveal their names, they will be issued show-cause notices by their party.”
Bhutto Jr. recalled the successful campaign against the construction of six controversial canals over the Indus River.
Criticising the Shahrah-e-Bhutto project, he questioned why the displaced residents of Lyari and the Expressway had not received compensation as yet.
“We are not traitors who would work with those responsible for my father’s death,” Bhutto Jr. said, confirming that he would contest elections from Lyari.
He recalled that his grandfather, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, had prepared a master plan for Lyari — a plan that, according to him, was ignored by the Zardari-led PPP.
When asked about Reham Khan, he said she would be welcomed if she decided to join the new party.
