Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday welcomed the supplemental award issued by the Court of Arbitration regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a significant validation of Pakistan’s position.

In a statement, the prime minister said the ruling strengthens Pakistan’s stance that India cannot unilaterally suspend the treaty.

“This decision affirms that international agreements cannot be violated at will,” he added.

Highlighting the importance of water security, Shehbaz said, “Water is our lifeline,” emphasizing the government’s serious commitment to protecting and efficiently utilizing the country’s water resources.

The prime minister also commended Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan for their effective legal strategy in securing this favorable outcome.

“This is a major diplomatic and legal success for Pakistan, and we will continue to raise our voice at every forum to protect the water rights of our people,” he stated.
