The Met Office has forecast widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across the country from June 20 to 23, marking the arrival of the first major monsoon spell as seasonal currents advance into the northern regions.

According to the PMD, major urban centers including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad, and surrounding areas are expected to receive rain accompanied by thunder, which is likely to provide temporary relief from the prevailing heatwave.

Rainfall is also expected in parts of southern Pakistan, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Tharparkar, and Khuzdar, with light to moderate showers anticipated in these areas.

In addition, a heavier spell of rain with strong winds is forecast between June 22 and 24 in Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, and Jacobabad.

The Met Office has warned of potential water accumulation in low-lying areas due to intense rainfall.

Authorities across affected regions have been advised to stay alert and implement precautionary measures, while citizens are urged to remain cautious during the wet weather period.
